Girls Golf

Girls Golf
by Harley Kincaid
Girls’ golf swung into the fall 2013 Season with some new goals and new way to start it off.
According to senior Danielle Warthen, the girls’ golf season is going really well so far. The girls earned their best team score of 348 at a course they never played before and finished 3|15 at Greensburg Invitational.  Last year Warthen had two goals; to win the Mooresville Invitational and go to regionals. This year she just wants to enjoy her senior year and relax rather than push herself to play as well as possible.
“I still want to play well, but I want to enjoy it just as much. I would also like to advance to sectionals as a team. I believe we are a lot better than last year,” Warthen said.
All though the season is fast and started early Coach Franklin thinks it’s going well.
“It’s nice to have five seniors and three juniors on the team because they already know the expectations,” Franklin said.
Coach’s goal this year is to finish top three in conference and top three in sectionals; this allows them to advance to regionals.
“Danielle Warthen and Jordan Blackburn are playing really well right now, but Molly Tieman is the most consistent player, she plays very well” Franklin said.
This year is very important to the team so come out to the games and cheer them on!

Google ChromeBook 101: A Guide to ChromeBooks

This year, grades nine through twelve are receiving Google Chromebooks, but most people aren’t really sure what it is.
A Google Chromebook is a laptop created by Google. Instead of having Microsoft Office programs, this laptop will have various educational apps for you to use.
The Chromebooks include a modern web browser that is easy to use in class. It has a faster start up time which includes an all-day battery life, and built in virus protection. The Chromebook has an 11.6 inch display, over 6.5 hours of battery, HDMI Port, and is only 0.7 inches thin.
Everyone seems to have different opinions about the Google Chromebooks. This includes all of the teachers, who will be working with the students and Chromebooks.
“I think it’d be a great tool, as long as they are utilized properly,” English teacher Mrs. Patel said.
Google Chromebooks come with lots of helpful tools, but may take some getting used to. The Chromebooks should hopefully be handed out next week.
“Technology is great. It’s a supplemental piece. It can enhance the learning environment,” History teacher Mr. Bosworth said.
If you are still curious about the new Google Chromebook you are getting, you can go to http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2412006,00.asp and look at more details about it for yourself.
