2-Hour Delay for Friday, February 22, 2013 - Schedule Attached

Super Bowl Predictions

by Daniel Skora
Around this time each year, many families and friends come together to watch the United States’s most watched sporting event: the Super Bowl.
This year, the Baltimore Ravens are playing against the San Francisco 49ers. If the 49ers win, they will tie the Pittsburgh for having the most Super Bowl victories. The Ravens have only won one Super Bowl.
“The 49ers are going to get eaten by the Ravens,” sophomore Gage Knauss said.
This is also the first time the two head coaches meeting in the Super Bowl will be brothers. Jim and John Harbaugh will battle it out to see who wins.
“A Harbaugh will win,” math teacher Jennifer Vaughan said.
On Super Bowl Sunday, commercial airtime is the most expensive. The commercials often become popular on social media websites for weeks after the Super Bowl.
“It’s been a year full of crazy outcomes, but ultimately the Ravens will be victorious,” senior Mac Norton said.
Some people don’t even enjoy football, but they enjoy the parties. Many people also watch it because of the halftime show which usually contains some of the most popular music artists in the world.
“I don’t follow football, but I think that the Ravens will win,” senior MacKinsey Taylor said.
Overall, this year’s Super Bowl match-up will result in an underdog winning. Stay safe and have fun!

New Principal, New Teacher, New Position, OH MY!

by Cassidy Kelley

After nine years of being the associate principal at MHS, Mr. Tim VanWanzeele has taken over for the school’s second semester as the interim principal.
Previously the associate principal, Mr. Van has taken over Mr. Chuck Muston’s job until the end of this school year. He assumes all the responsibilities of his earlier position but deals less with discipline. That commission is now mainly Mr. Adam Allen’s, who also handles drug testing, supervision, attendance and various other responsibilities assigned by Mr. Van.

Success Period Bumps Schedule Down To Six Classes

By Paige Baker

According to a news release: “The Mooresville High School Administration and Guidance Department have created a number of new courses to benefit MHS students and will be implementing a new schedule system for 2013-2014 for students to maximize those and other course offerings.”

Counselors will begin to meet with students in the next few months to plan and schedule their “educational path” for the upcoming year in addition to the high school years that remain.
